In order for the body to change you have to really learn to commit to the change. If you go into something half-heartedly, then your results will be just that. You have to really want to make a difference in your body as well as your life. You have to be open to the idea of slimming down a size. And when you feel like you can't go on, you've got to pick yourself up by your boot straps and keeping going. It is this passion and determination, which will take you to the next level.

All the gimmicks and products out there that promise you: free! 30 pounds in 30 days, or lose inches on your waist in just 3 minutes a day, all they are is a way for someone to make money off of someone else’s naivety. There comes a time in all of our lives when we find ourselves at a place of weakness and that is the time when we look for the easy way out. (I feel like Mel Gibson in “Braveheart”). Most of us will buy three miracle products in our lives, this version and that version. You have to realize that the only person, who is going to change you, is you. Have you ever noticed how the machine on TV that really seems to catch your eye, is always the easiest one? The one where you barely have to do anything, you just sit there and move a little and it is amazing. In just three minutes a day and the click of a button, you can look like the model that has been working out their whole life and dieted for the last two months, before shooting the commercial. And you and I both know that the model has never really used the equipment. If it were that easy, why do we see so many of these items at garage sales?

The other day I saw an infomercial for a machine that works out your whole lower body with one easy piece of equipment, in just three minutes a day. It takes the place of six different pieces of equipment and only cost a few hundred dollars. The movement it was actually doing is called “Squats”. The only difference is that you get to lie down. Although, I must admit the models on the infomercial, were in great shape. Another great one is the miracle diet that claims you can lose 10 pounds in two days. Millions of people have bought these products without reading the small print that usually says something like “results not typical”. The question I ask people, when they ask me about that, is “Ten pounds of what”? It is not humanly possible for your body to burn ten pounds of fat in two days. That is like saying; you can grow ten inches of hair in two days. Things take a certain amount of time, you can’t speed up the process that much. You can lose ten pounds of water and muscle in two days. I used to do it for wrestling, all the time. You just put on a rubber suit and run till you pass out, and your body will have lost ten pounds of water. Then don’t drink any water until you step on the scale, and voila!


I would do this and weigh ten pounds less, but do you think I had ten pounds less fat? Of course not! Or, do you think I looked good? Ha! I looked terrible, but I did weigh less. It's not my style anyway. Anyhow, when you finally decide to make the choice of changing your body once and for all, then that is when it will happen. There is no secret code or quick fix. We keep buying into all of these miracle cures - if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
